An Uptown Elevated Home for the Modern Family

Designing the latest Irving model was an amazing opportunity to feature a space for modern living. This model has 10ft ceilings on the first floor, so we highlighted that with textured wallpaper, custom drapes and bold lighting.

We wanted to share a few thoughts on how we layed out the space to give inspiration should you have this floorplan or something similiar.

These stunning rust colored sofas facing each other creates conversation and gives separation to the living room. The rich color is an anchor to the space without feeling overpowering. Adding a large chandelier is also a must in creating some separation in the floorplan, as well as adding a conversation piece upon entering the home.

Moving into the dining space, we wanted it to compliment the living space. We kept all the window treatments in the same fabrics from the drapes to the custom cornices. We added a large table to seat 6 as well as a console for drinks and serving. This is a great option for entertaining.

The kitchen is a chefs dream with ample storage and a large island than can fit 4. Adding statement pendant lighting once again helps the space feel unique and complete. In a space this open with the back door to the garage off the kitchen, using backless counter stools helps with the space and foot traffic. This Chiro color cabinet was a great selection for a modern, elevated choice.

We like to use large scale art that the whole space can appreciate but we also love the following when decorating:

  • Wallpaper with a texture or print
  • Light fixtures- these really are the jewelry of the home
  • Your fabrics for window treatments- these can have texture as well as a color that can make the space more interesting.
