Our Designer’s Share their must haves for Two-Story Great Rooms

There is something so grand about a Two-Story Great Room. A few of our favorite Fischer Homes Models like the Charles, Blair and the Pearson give you a designers dream for making a big impact in your home.

It can be challenging when seeing this large open space so we put together a few of our favorite tips below.

Long Statement Panels:

Treating the main windows as one large window highlights the large space. We like to add panels that are 186” long and 12” wide.

If you need more privacy, you could add blinds to the lower windows- there are so many stylish options in woven and rattan/bamboo blinds. You can then leave the upper windows open for the natural light.

Wallpaper:

We might sound like a broken record but wallpaper AKA a “Special Feature” really is your secret style weapon. It can add so much texture and interest in a space. Adding it to the main wall is a real show stopper and actually helps with art selection as well since it fills the space.

Large Scale Art:

Making the space feel “fulfilled’ can be tricky if you start adding to many small options. We like to add large scale art or mirror that helps create a wow moment. We like pieces that are 60” x 46” or larger. you can also add two to make a bigger impact.

Highlight the Fireplace:

A Fireplace to the ceiling is the ultimate stylish moment. There are so many treatments you can add like shiplap- we love painting this, stone or even tile. We are all about layers and this is a great way to add texture and dimension.
